Afro Spice provides authentic Nigerian cuisine to the York University community and beyond.
We strive to serve the best variety of Nigerian dishes while taking the time to know our patrons to better serve them and to ensure that they are satisfied with the meals and services we provide.

Afro Spice sources fresh ingredients and condiments both in Canada and Nigeria which greatly contributes to the quality of food we serve. Our goal is to provide our patrons with quality meals and hospitality like they get in their homes.

Our History

Afro Spice has been around for over a decade, located in North York, Ontario. A strategic restructuring that happened in May 2016, which saw Patience and Lateef managing the restaurant as a family business with help from student staff. The emergence of Patience and Lateef through hard work and dedication, have built a resounding success story that is known today as Afrospice- the most talked jollof rice in the GTA and across Canada.

About Our Owner

Patience Odiaka is a registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers since 2018. She studied at the Factor Inwentash School of Social Work at the University of Toronto and earned a Masters of Social Work degree in 2017. With extensive experience in supporting parents and families in identifying best practices in parenting, Patience is a dynamic, compassionate, and goal-oriented professional who aims to empower clients and help them achieve their goals. Patience is a trusted and capable "go-to" person for clients seeking parenting support.
